José Ceja is a former felony drug prosecutor from Arizona.
He has substantial trial experience, including multiple-defendant
drug trafficking cases and serious violent felonies. His appellate
experience includes successfully arguing and winning a case
before the Arizona Supreme Court. Mr. Ceja is fluent in Spanish
and highly knowledgeable in Fourth Amendment Search and Seizure
law. In 2010, he joined Scheiner Law Group, P.C. as a criminal
defense attorney. Mr. Ceja is licensed in Arizona and Texas.
Education
Mr. Ceja earned his Juris Doctorate from the University
of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law. While in law
school, Mr. Ceja clerked for Hon. Bernardo Velasco (United
States District Court - Southern District of Arizona), the
law firm of Haralson, Miller, Pitt, Feldman and McAnally,
as well as the Legal Department of the Tucson, Arizona Police
Department. He also defended clients in immigration deportation
proceedings and completed a prosecution clinic.
Mr. Ceja completed his undergraduate studies at the University
of Arizona. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism,
with minors in Spanish and English. At Arizona he received
the "Outstanding Senior Award" in Journalism.
He was also Assistant News Editor of the Arizona Daily
Wildcat and Co-founder of the campus charity, "Brooks
for Hope."
Personal
Mr. Ceja lives in Houston and enjoys running and playing
basketball.
