Houston Criminal Attorney Jose Ceja

José Ceja is an Associate Houston Criminal Attorney at Scheiner Law Group, P.C. in Houston. He is a former felony drug prosecutor from Arizona, where he was born and raised. Mr. Ceja has substantial trial experience as a criminal attorney in Houston, including multiple-defendant drug trafficking cases and serious violent felonies. His appellate experience includes successfully arguing and winning a case before the Arizona Supreme Court. Mr. Ceja is fluent in Spanish and highly knowledgeable in Fourth Amendment Search and Seizure law. In 2010, he joined Scheiner Law Group, P.C. as an associate and since that time as a Houston criminal attorney, he has achieved outstanding results for the Firm’s clients, including dismissals, “not guilty” verdicts and grand jury “no bills” in a wide variety of criminal cases. Mr. Ceja is licensed in Arizona and Texas.

Education

Mr. Ceja earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law. While in law school, Mr. Ceja clerked for Hon. Bernardo Velasco (United States District Court – Southern District of Arizona), the law firm of Haralson, Miller, Pitt, Feldman and McAnally, as well as the Legal Department of the Tucson, Arizona Police Department. He also defended clients in immigration deportation proceedings and completed a prosecution clinic.

Mr. Ceja completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism, with minors in Spanish and English. At the University of Arizona he received the “Outstanding Senior Award” in Journalism. He was also Assistant News Editor of the Arizona Daily Wildcat and Co-founder of the campus charity, “Books for Hope.”

Mr. Ceja has completed courses in DUI/DWI Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association’s (TCDLA) Psychodrama Program in Round Top, Texas, sponsored by the Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Project. Additionally, he has completed extensive continuing education training relating to the defense of intoxication offenses and the defense of sex crimes. Mr. Ceja has also lectured on incorporating technology into the practice of law. He is an active member of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association and TCDLA.

Personal

Mr. Ceja lives in Houston and enjoys running, weight lifting and playing basketball. An avid homebrewer, Mr. Ceja is also a member of the American Homebrewer’s Association.
