Two Fatal Crashes in Houston This Weekend

The Houston Chronicle reported today that police suspect two crashes early Saturday morning, both of which involved fatalities, were alcohol related. In one, a 37-year old man crashed his van into another vehicle, killing the other driver. In the other, a 25-year old man crashed his Jaguar, killing his front seat passenger. The Chronicle also reported that the driver of the van was charged with DWI, while the driver of the Jaguar was charged with intoxication manslaughter.

First and foremost, this is tragic news, and our thoughts are with the families of the deceased. But we also owe the suspects in these incidents a thorough and impartial investigation. Far too often, there is a rush to judgment in cases involving alcohol-related fatalities. It is crucial to remember that even if the driver of a vehicle involved in an accident has had something to drink, there is not necessarily a connection between alcohol and the accident. This is why a thorough investigation is necessary.

In cases involving DWI and accidents, a thorough investigation by a DWI lawyer is often the best way to determine who exactly was at fault. A top DWI attorney will want to investigate the scene and interview any witnesses to the accident.  If you or a loved one is arrested for DWI, DUI or any alcohol related charge in Houston, Texas, the attorneys at Scheiner Law Group are an excellent choice.
